What is Oregon Health Plan?
Oregon Health Plan, also known as OHP, is a health assistance program (Medicaid) for the people of the US state of Oregon. IT Works under the jurisdiction of the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Government of Oregon. Oregon Health Authority is a state agency formed to provide health care services like medical treatment services every resident of the state. All the health programs are taken care of by Division of Medical Assistance Programs (DMAP). Oregon Health Plan specializes in providing health care services to low income individuals and their families.
History
Oregon Health Plan was introduced in the year 1993. The Idea to create the health plan was brought by John Albert Kitzhaber, who was serving as the state senator at that time, accompanied by Dr. Ralph Crawshaw, an activist from Portland. The plan focuses on assisting the poor working people. In the year 2008, certain changes were made in the health plan that covers disorder development among young children. According to December, 2013, the health plan serves over 900,000 people living in the state. The basic eligibility to be a member of the plan is that a person must be a citizen of Oregon.
Categories
Oregon Health Plan comes in two categories after February 2003, when the previous plan was updated with changes. Those two categories are "OHP Plus" and "OHP Standard".
