What is China Telecom?
China Telecom is completely listed as China Telecom Corporation Limited in telecommunications industry worldwide. China Telecom is a state-owned company having head office in Beijing, China. It is operated as the China's largest provider in fixed-line service and third largest in mobile services.
History
China Telecom came into existence in September 2002 and started services in Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang. In November of same year, China Telecom listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (SEHK) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). During first month of 2009, the company acquired 3G mobile license to start 3G mobile services, and within two months, it launched 3G services in 120 cities across the country.
Services and Subscribers
The World's largest and fully integrated telecom services provider company, China Telecom serves wireline telecommunications services, CDMA mobile, broadband Internet, wireless networking, value-added telecommunication services, information services, etc. According to result of 2013, the company had over 156 million wireline access lines subscribers, 100 million wireline broadband subscribers and 186 million mobile subscribers.
Acquisitions
At the end of 2003, the company completed acquisitions with six telecom companies as its wholly-owned subsidiaries, and in June of Next year, it completed acquisitions with ten telecom companies. During June 2007, its acquisitions include China Telecom (HK), China Telecom (Americas) and China Telecom System Integration.
