What is Crackle?

Crackle is a leading provider of digital media services. It operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment. It offers the Flash Video format of the streaming video content. To provide the services, the company uses various public video sharing and social s such as YouTube, MySpace, AOL and Hulu. The company began operations in July 2007.

The head office of the company is situated in Culver City, California, United States. The former name of the company was Grouper Networks and later on, the company adopted the name Crackle. Crackle introduced Kill Count, a Halloween event, which was about the number of persons killed in a horror movie.
