History
The Mesa Airlines was founded in 1982 by an aircraft mechanic Larry Risley and his wife Janie Risley. The airline was previously known as Mountain Waest Airlines. The business was started with scheduled service between Farmington and Albuquerque of New Mexico. The nine passenger aircraft Piper Chieftan was adopted for these services. To support the airline business financially Larry mortgaged his house.
