What is RBI Ahmedabad?

Reserve Bank of India is the central banking institution of India. Its primary responsibility is to formulate, monitor and implement the monetary policy, maintenance of price stability, regulate and supervise the financial system, manage foreign exchange and issue the currency etc. It was established on 1st April, 1935 as per the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. To begin with it was owned privately, but in 1949, it was completely under the Government of India. It’s headquarter was established at Calcutta, which was shifted permanently in 1937 at Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg, Mumbai. It plays an important role in the development strategy of the Government of India. It is a member Bank of the Asian Clearing Union and its undertakings are governed by the central board of directors which is appointed by the Government for a period of four years. The central board of directors comprises of twenty one members, which include the Governor, four Deputy Governors, ten government nominated directors, two Finance Ministry representatives and four directors from four local boards at Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and New Delhi. It is a leading member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion. It has two fully owned subsidiaries which are DICGC and BRBNMPL. It has nineteen regional offices located at most state capitals and few major cities, nine sub-offices and five training establishments. Its regional office at Ahmedabad is located near Gandhi Bridge, Ahmedabad. Its jurisdiction is the state of Gujarat and Union territories of Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
