Samsung UAE is one among the subsidiaries of an Information Technology (IT) giant Samsung Group (or simply called Samsung). According to the 2012 data, Samsung is the world's prominent company in the Information Technology sector as of total revenue. The company opened its doors in the year 1938. It was founded with the extreme efforts of a South Korean businessman Lee Byung-Chul. Initially, Samsung was engaged in trading business and later widened its business line and included electronic, insurance, fire and marine, construction, medical services and many other categories. The company in 1978 set up Samsung Semiconductor and Telecommunications Company and as a result it made a presence in the semiconductor market.
Samsung established presence in the telecommunication industry following the acquisition of Hanguk Jeonja Tongsin in 1980. After the founder's death in 1987, the company's business was split into four divisions: Hansol Group, Samsung Group, CJ Group and Shinsegae Group. In 1992, the company created 64M DRAM which was the first in the world of its kind. In the same year, it emerged as one of the leading Chip making companies and after Three years, it developed its first Liquid-crystal display (LCD).
In Vietnam, the company began construction of the largest Mobile facility of the world in 2013.
