What is Singapore Prison?
Singapore Prison service is a self governing body under the competent Ministry of Home Affairs of Singapore. These services were formed in the year 1946.
The team of Singapore Police services consists of a specialized team of uniform officers and civilian staff which includes medical personnel, psychologists, management officers and counselors. The prison has one of the most excellent prison systems that is committed to direct offenders to become law abiding citizens. SPS has made some noticeable changes to reconstruct as one of the most excellent, advanced and protected prison systems.
There are 14 institutions running under SPS which are assembled under four clusters namely Cluster A and B within Changi Prison Complex, Cluster C comprise of the Prison school and Operations and Security Command.
SPS has seven divisions of staff namely, Corporate services, Operations, Rehabilitation and Reintegration, Staff development, Intelligence and Services, Psychological & Correction Rehabilitaion division and Strategic Planning & Research .

Video Teleconferencing
This facility was provided for the visits of family members of the inmates who are located in various parts of Singapore Via personal computers.
Mobile devices (mobile PORTS or mPORTS)
Mobile devices were given to prison officers for having a better comprehension of an Inmate during their visit to the institution. Prison officers could gain information about the inmates through Mobile Tablets while they were on the ground. These tablets facilitated instant information on any new inmate.
Inmate Self-Service Kiosk (iKiosk)
This facility was customized and developed by NCS. It is smooth edged, tamper proof glass monitor that can withstand very high degree of impacts. It comprises of a barcode scanner too that aids in validating the prison inmate’s wrist tags. These kiosks permit inmates to carry out non-susceptible regular administrative activities on their own. This helps them to own up for their actions and instill a sense of self-accountability. They also aid the inmates to acquaint themselves to, which would help them to incorporate back into society after their release.
Singapore Prison Service has taken an initiative known as CARE (Community Action for the Rehabilitation of Ex-Offenders) to improvise and manage the efficacy of a range of agencies who does rehabilitative works for ex-offenders in Singapore.
