Since its establishment in 1996, it has maintained its leading position in Prepaid Wireless services. The company was created as a prepaid mobile company under the name Topp Telecom Inc. In 2000, the company's operations came under its current owner América Móvil and after that, it became TracFone Wireless Inc. The parent company, América Móvil, in 2012 purchased the operations of MVNO Simple Mobile.
