What is Bell Contact?

Bell Canada is a Canadian Telecom company based in Montreal, Quebec. It provides the services of telephone, Internet, Digital television, and Radio broadcasting. Bell Canada borrowed its name from Alexnader Graham Bell, who invents telephone. Bell Canada has passed through a long journey dates back to 1870's when Alexander Graham Bell transferred his 25% patent rights of telephone to his father Alexnader Melville Bell, who later on passed these rights to National Bell Telephone Company. In 1880, National Bell Telephone Company was incorporated as Bell in 1880. The company had set up various telephone exchanges in many cities with the strength of 150 workers. In 1904, the company started sending bills to customers while had its first motor vehicle in 1909. It was the largest long distance serving telephone company by 1914 with the customer base of 237,000 people after its monopoly was approved by Government of Canada. Bell international operations were begun in 1927 by giving call services to England. The Great Depression of 1930 brought decline in the business of company. After the World War 2, Bell Business was on the prosperity way: it was installing telephones at an average of over 6500. The company switched to new technology by placing TV link between the USA and Canada.

It was renamed as Bell Canada in 1968 from The Bell Telephone Company of Canada, Ltd. Bell Canada started covering the regions of Nova Scotia to Rocky Mountains. In 1983, it was made the subsidiary of Bell Canada Enterprises Inc. or BCE Inc. In 1998, Bell Canada begun to operate Internet services and entered into a partnership with Lycos in 1999.

Coming to its line up of services and products, Bell Canada is categorized in various telecom services. It provides its VoIP services under “Digital Voice” Brand. It is available with different packages and plans. Its another service is voicemail being offered to general and business customers. Bell Canada introduced its wireless services as Bell Mobility launched in 1993. It is subscribed to over 7.8 million people including both postpaid and predpaid customers. Subscribers can access to more than 500 channels along with 100 HD channels through Bell TV. Founded in 1997, Bell TV is serving more than 1.8 million people. It provides its wireless TV services through its receiver, Bell Fibe TV. Bell TV is the erstwhile ExpressVu and is transmitted through geostationary satellites.

Bell Internet is the brand of Bell Canada to provide Internet services which is subscribed to over Three million people. One of the largest Internet Service Providers in Canada, Bell Internet is available in the connections Wi Fi, Dial up and DSL. It sells various modems like SpeedStream, 2Wire and Cellpipe. Its limit for bandwidth in a month ranges from 40 GB to 175 GB. Some regions are covered by its optical fiber network. Its all internet plans are available with Mcafee Security. Besides that, Bell Canada covers extra services under Bell Internet such as PC care, free internet usage, home networking etc.

Bell Canada also owns Bell Media, which is its mass media division for TV broadcasting and radio broadcasting. This division operates CTV and Bell Media Radio.
