Gordmans, Inc. came into existence with the opening of its first store in the year 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska. It was created with the efforts of
Dan Gordman who quit his job at a
Bloomingdale's store in New York City started the business with his father Sam Richman. But actually the Gordmans business traces its Roots when Sam Richman opened a clothing store named 'Outfitters to the Family' in Omaha. The company opened their second outlet in the year 1948 and the business name was changed to Richman Gordman after Dan bought the whole ownership of the company. The company expanded mainly during the 1970's and 1980's when it opened many outlets.
Gordmans Incorporation owns number of stores of their own in several US states with the corporate office of the company located in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. The company's stock is traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker symbol
