Red Robin Gourmet Burgers is a restaurant chain, operating in United States. It was founded in 1969. The chain has set up head office in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Red Robin Gourmet Burgers operates 450 restaurants across the United States till the end of year 2010. Initially, the store was opened near Furhman and Eastlake Avenues, Seattle as Sam's Tavern. Its owner, Sam liked "When the Red, Red Robin" song and he renamed the restaurant as Sam's Red Robin. Gerry Kingen, the local businessmen had purchased it in 1969 and had removed Sam's from its title. The Businessmen had expended it and was spread in 110 square meter of area. The restaurant was the preferred location for the University of Washington students.

First Red Robin restaurant offers 28 unique types of burgers to the customers. After the ten year operations, its owner thought to franchise it. That Idea made historical change in the development of restaurant chain. The owner sold rights to The Snyder Group to open restaurant; it was the first franchisee restaurant of the chain. Red Robin Gourmet Burgers had opened 175 restaurants in 1985. The Company had total sale of approximately US $1.00 billion in 2010. First Red Robin restaurant was closed on March 21, 2010 due to high maintenance cost of building.
